The Buddha statue was discovered near the Ekambara Nathar temple and was subsequently placed within the premises of the Sivakanchi Police Station. Observing its neglected condition, Inspector General of Police W.I. Dewaram had it properly installed in 1992. The statue is now well-maintained under a small roof, with both hands positioned in the Yoga Mudra pose.
